TNZ win BIg

February 15, 2009

Team New Zealand won in extremely shifty conditions not to mention heavy rain and fog.  The last run of the 3rd and deciding race was like a hard core coaching session on redline jibing practice.  ETNZ matched Alinghi jibe for jibe.  This is not normally done in 25 knots of wind with Asymmetrical sails which collapse in the middle of the jibe and fill with an almighty bang on the new jibe.

This was a huge day on the water and was followed by a huge crowd in the Viaduct with hundreds cheering for ETNZ.  I am not the only one who was thinking or saying... "If only."

Will we do it again?  Who knows but there was a lunch on Larry's boat yesterday with 'all of the right people' :-)
